Full explanation

India M3 Money Supply YoY is the annual percentage growth in India's M3 broad money (money stock), published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its fortnightly money-supply data in the Weekly Statistical Supplement. M3 comprises currency with the public, demand and time deposits with banks and 'other' deposits with the RBI. Some calendars list the figure simply as 'M3 Money Supply', but the value shown is the year-on-year growth rate, not the amount of money.

Why traders watch it

Broad money growth shows liquidity and bank-deposit expansion in India and is watched alongside credit growth.

Stronger vs weaker outcomes

Faster growth than expected points to looser monetary and credit conditions and can support expectations of firmer activity or inflation; slower growth points the other way.

Stronger than expected

A higher reading means India's broad money grew faster over the past year.

Weaker than expected

A lower reading means it grew more slowly.

In line with expectations

Higher means faster; lower means slower.

Low. The figure is a growth rate even when the event name lacks 'YoY'. Data are for reporting fortnights, so dates differ from calendar months.
