Germany Import Price Index — monthly change
Full explanation
German Import Price Index (MoM) is the percentage change from the previous month in Germany's import price index, published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). It measures the prices of goods imported into Germany (index 2021=100) and is not seasonally adjusted. It is an import-price measure, not producer prices or export prices.
Why traders watch it
Import prices feed through to German producer and consumer prices, so they are an early signal of imported inflation, especially from energy.
Stronger vs weaker outcomes
A higher-than-expected reading points to stronger price pressure; a lower reading points the other way.
