China Outstanding Loan Growth YoY
Published:
Annual growth in China's outstanding RMB loan balance, published by the PBOC.
Full explanation
China Outstanding Loan Growth YoY is the annual percentage growth in the outstanding balance of renminbi loans, published monthly by the People's Bank of China (PBOC). It measures the stock of RMB lending compared with a year earlier, unlike New Yuan Loans, which measures the flow of new lending in the month.
Why traders watch it
Loan growth shows the underlying pace of credit expansion in China.
Stronger vs weaker outcomes
Faster growth than expected points to looser monetary and credit conditions and can support expectations of firmer activity or inflation; slower growth points the other way.
A higher reading means China's stock of RMB loans grew faster over the past year.
A lower reading means it grew more slowly.
Higher means faster; lower means slower.
